CINDY SOULE TRUEX

Felted Wool

I was drawn to nature and art at an early age, growing up in southern Kansas. My grandparents were artistic in several mediums, and I remember them fostering creativity in me.

Nature, water and the trees drew me north after graduating from nursing school. I dabbled in all kinds of arts and crafts until I couldn’t keep up with that and raising three busy boys too. After we retired we felt the north calling, and closed our eyes and my finger landed randomly landed on Luck. It was an omen. We have lived in the area for 5 years and I’ve been very fortunate to make friends who are artists. I typically refer to myself as an Autodidact. My new friends have encouraged me in my artistic journey and I have learned a great deal from them, and they gave me the confidence to put my work on display. I have enjoyed expressing my interpretations of how I see the world into tangible pieces of art.

The majority of the work I do is using wool fiber. Its natural properties lend itself to many forms and uses. I prefer to make useable art, such as bags, hats and vessels, but also enjoy creating a piece of wall art on occasion.
