Lori Kidd is an enamelist who makes elegant yet quirky pendants, earrings, and other small pieces of art. She lives in Hiawatha, Iowa with her husband Robert. She is a mother of three, and loves being Grammie to her grand daughter and four grand sons.

We asked our featured artists a few questions:

What draws me to the medium?

   No two days in the studio are ever the same. Enameling is very unpredictable.

What is my favorite and most fun?

    Favorite technique is called crackle. By layering different types of enamel (opaque, transparent, and crackle base) which melt at different temperatures, the colors break through and create a wonderful effect. No two pieces are ever the same.

Another medium?

 Watercolor! I started water coloring about one month ago. So relaxing but with a lot to learn. It has been fun trying to figure out my style.
