SCULPTURE

Jim is an engineer by training, a tinker by trade, and an artist by desire. At his studio, Iron goat Artworks, near Clam Falls, WI, his focus is sculpture in cast metal, industrial found objects, and wood. His technical background has become a vocabulary for explorations and expressions of man-made and natural forms, new growth on old foundations, and answers that become the next questions. At times, his process is intuitive, hands-on manipulation of the media. At others, it’s a planned concept that he models on the computer. More and more, it is a mix and interweaving of the two - reason with passion and left brain with right. He also has a tendency to jump in at the deep end of a project and learn to swim by necessity.
